There are quite many secrets hidden inside this typically historic village including some intimate rules that the people follow.

According to sources, the people of Malana are the descendants of Aryans who achieved their independence during the Mughal era. It all began when the emperor Akbar entered this village in order to avail an injury treatment and was successfully cured. This led him to pronounce that all the inhabitants related to Malana would never be considered to pay their taxes.

Another unconventional tradition states that Malana was originally found by the residues of Alexander the Great’s army.

When it comes to their original language, ‘Kanashi’ is what they all speak locally. This language does not sound familiar to any other neighboring villages or valleys as it is considered forbidden for outsiders to speak in Kanashi. This comes under one of their privacy rules in which this language is considered a secret code language to communicate with one another.

Malana is mainly famous for the Malana cream, which is a strain of marijuana having a high amount of oil content along with an intense aroma. Malana cream is a term given to hash grown in the Parvati Valley, which is one of the most common drugs sold around the world.
